Game Maker 0.12 : Nouvelles fonctionnalités et améliorations pour créer des expériences immersives

With the Game Maker 0.12 update, The Sandbox introduces a host of new features that open up unprecedented possibilities: advanced multiplayer management, immersive audio, persistent data saving, dynamic NPC behaviors, and much more.

With these tools, we can enhance your existing brand experiences in the metaverse or design entirely new interactive adventures tailored to your goals and identity.

1. Editor and User Interface

• Mode selection upon creation — The flow has been redesigned: from the start, you choose between a single-player or multiplayer experience, which directly adapts the displayed tools; the interface is therefore clearer and more streamlined.

• Support for ultrawide screens and a new layout (scenes vs. gameplay) for an improved user experience.

• Redesigned, minimalist Home Console with integrated announcements, tutorials, and bug reports.

2. File Management and Security

• AutoSave — enable an interval between 5 and 30 minutes; backups are organized in a version history.

3. Assets & Templates Library

• Four new libraries: British Museum, Architecture, Interior Design (furniture and lighting), and Terrain Colors.

• Three new project templates: FPS Shooter, Action RPG, and Business Tycoon, to get you started quickly.

• Improved search engine—filter by name, tags, categories, or description.

4. Construction and Collision Tools

• Visual outlines for the placement of hidden blocks or objects (yellow/red).

• Custom colliders—type (box, sphere, plane), position, rotation, and scale adjustable by pixel or mouse.

• Avatar teleportation—spawn in a random area and team support, avoiding overlaps.

6. NPCs Dynamiques et Comportements

• Advanced Behaviors — An NPC can now combine multiple modules (Walk, Flee, Follow, Gather, Healer).

• Walk: Area, animation, speed, activation by message.

• Flee: Escape based on a tag, such as "Hostile."

• Follow: Follows the player, respects doors and boundaries, but with limitations (no swimming, unsuccessful jumps, etc.).

The old behaviors remain available for existing projects (Legacy mode), except for Soldier/Melee Enemy in single-player mode.

7. Multiplayer and Matchmaking

• Optimized matchmaking—queue, lobby, Quick Play, and friend integration for easy game joining.

• Player count settings: Small, Medium, Large, or Custom, with the option to join mid-game.

8. Persistent Data & Progression

• Saved Data — equipment, consumables, variables, checkpoints, quest progress, and persistent state between sessions.

Allows you to build sustainable systems such as progression trees, shops, unlockable content, and more.

9. Avatar and Immersion Abilities

• New abilities: Dash (short sprints even in the air) and Glide (gliding from heights), complementing Fly, Double Jump, etc.

• Smoother animations, transitions (sitting, running, jumping), and more dynamic cameras.

10. Audio and Cinematic Interface

• Immersive audio via WWise (3D spatialization, reverb, CPU reduction), over 2,500 ready-to-use sounds/music tracks.

• Cinematic UI: transitions, dynamic menus, AAA-quality visual onboarding.

• Smart chat: automatic switching between global (metaverse) and local in-game chat.

In conclusion, Game Maker 0.12 is a major step forward!

Version 0.12 of Game Maker marks a major turning point for creators and brands. With optimized multiplayer, persistent data, new NPC behaviors, and immersive audio, the creative possibilities are multiplying.
